Free Software Directory
The Free Software Directory was started in September 1999 to catalog useful free software that runs under free operating systems. The Directory contains over 4,000 entries. FSF has developed a partnership with UNESCO to combine our Free Software Directory with UNESCO's Free Software portal.
The Free Software Foundation
The Free Software Foundation (FSF), established in 1985, is dedicated to promoting computer users' rights to use, study, copy, modify, and redistribute computer programs. The FSF promotes the development and use of Free Software, particularly the GNU operating system, used widely in its GNU/Linux variant. The FSF also helps to spread awareness of the ethical and political issues surrounding freedom in the use of software.
UNESCO Free Software Portal
The UNESCO Free Software Portal gives access to documents and websites which are references for the Free Software/Open Source Technology movement. It is also a gateway to resources related to Free Software.
Foundation for a Free Information Infrastructure (FFII)
The Foundation for a Free Information Infrastructure (FFII) is a non-profit association registered in several European countries, which is dedicated to the spread of data processing literacy. FFII supports the development of public information goods based on copyright, free competition, open standards.
